The Water Cycle

Today's learning about the Water Cycle included recapping prior knowledge of the water cycle and viewing the following videos:

We are learning to:

  • Understand where the planet's water comes from.


Success Criteria:

  • Explain the process of the water cycle.

  • Explain the terms associated with the water cycle.

  • Briefly explain the function of the components of the water cycle.


HANGA
  • Create the water cycle using Google drawing.
  • Use Screencastify to explain the terms: evaporation, condensation, precipitation... and the function of the components.
  • Extension: use Google slides to create an animated water cycle.

I am going to ask students to decide how they will share their learning. Here are some examples that the students have come up with:
  • Share with other classes;
  • School Celebration Assembly - virtual at the moment;
  • Email whanau;
  • Teach the other year 5/6 class how to use Google Drawing to create a water cycle.

Cybersmart - Sorting Information: Cooper vs Ruby

We are learning to understand the difference between private and personal information

Today we learned that we can find information from a range of sources within texts provided.

We read about Cooper and Ruby and worked out what information we can find out about them from their books.

We can find information from the text (writing), for example, the dogs like going to the park and going for walks. 

We can find information from images (pictures), for example, the registration plate. 

We can find information from audio (sound), for example, the splash of water.
